Business Champions

How does the Business Champions Awards program work?

  • The Business Champions Awards program that was established by the MetroHartford Alliance and their partner, the Hartford Business Journal in 2004.
  • The program recognizes the fastest growing privately held companies headquartered in Central Connecticut. (see list of towns below)
  • Businesses in various employee categories with skyrocketing year-over-year revenue and job growth are recognized at a luncheon attracting more than 500 business professionals and owners.

The process for becoming a Business Champion

There is an online nomination process where companies were able to nominate their business or they were nominated by someone else, i.e. their accountant, legal firms, banks, financial advisor, etc.

Award winners must meet the following selection criteria:

* Been in business for three full fiscal years
* Experienced significant revenue growth from previous year (in excess of 10 percent)
* Experienced significant job growth in the Region in 2006.
* Is a privately-held business, not a subsidiary of a publicly held or traded corporation.
* Is a for-profit organization

Winner must be headquartered in one of the 62 Metro Hartford towns listed here:
Andover, Ashford, Avon, Barkhamsted, Berlin, Bloomfield, Bolton, Bristol, Burlington, Canton, Chaplin, Cheshire, Colchester, Columbia, Coventry, Cromwell, Durham, East Granby, East Haddam, East Hampton, East Hartford, East Windsor, Ellington, Enfield, Farmington, Glastonbury, Granby, Haddam, Hartford, Harwinton, Hebron, Lebanon, Manchester, Mansfield, Marlborough, Meriden, Middlefield, Middletown, New Britain, New Hartford, Newington, Plainville, Plymouth, Portland, Rocky Hill, Simsbury, Somers, South Windsor, Southington, Stafford, Suffield, Tolland, Union, Vernon, Wallingford, West Hartford, Wethersfield, Willington, Winchester, Windham, Windsor, Windsor Locks.

1 - 10 (minimum revenue in 2005 should be $100,000)
11 - 50
51 - 100
101 – 250
251+
