Legislative Affairs Council

Legislative Affairs Council

Positions on matters of public policy are developed through the Legislative Affairs Council. With a permanent subcommittee on tax and fiscal issues, the Legislative Affairs Council meets once a month to craft a public policy agenda, meet with key leaders in government, form our advocacy positions on issues as they arise, and increase the visibility of the Alliance in the realm of public policy. This structure provides an opportunity for the region's business and economic development leaders to speak with a forceful, united voice on the issues that matter to us all. Furthermore, it provides unique networking opportunities with business and government leaders, both in Hartford and Washington, D.C., as well as a source of information on the latest topics and trends in politics and government.

Members of the Alliance who join the Legislative Affairs Council become part of an active and engaged interest group with a strong reputation for effective leadership and advocacy on behalf of the business community in Hartford and the metro Hartford area.

Public Policy Council

The Public Policy Council identifies key priorities in the Alliance's legislative agenda to promote to a broader audience of members and future members, elected officials and the public at large. The Council is responsible for inviting key speakers to participate in planned policy forums, with the goal of increasing members' exposure to policy makers and other key decision makers and enhancing the Alliance's overall visibility in the realm of government. During election years, the Council will organize political forums to foster open dialogue between Alliance members and candidates for public office.
