September 27, 2024 | The Bone & Joint Institute at Hartford Hospital earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® in four programs: advanced hip and knee, advanced spine, core total shoulder replacement, and core hip fracture.

This recertification demonstrates continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.

“The Bone & Joint Institute at Hartford Hospital has been known for exceptional outcomes and patient experience since it opened its doors in 2017,” said Cheryl Ficara, president of Hartford Hospital and senior vice president of Hartford HealthCare. “This recertification accomplishment is the direct result of an expert team working together closely to ensure the highest standards are achieved for every patient. We are committed to excellence in every facet of patient care.”

The recertification, offered in collaboration with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, focuses on the pre-surgical orthopedic consultation to the intraoperative, hospitalization or ambulatory surgical center admission, rehabilitation activities, and follow-up visit with the orthopedic surgeon.

Following a rigorous, onsite review, the Joint Commission evaluated compliance with related certification standards and conducted onsite observations and interviews.
