September 30, 2024 | At the 2024 New England Legal Awards, held September 26 at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston, Pullman & Comley’s Family Law Practice was honored with the prestigious “Specialty Litigation Department of the Year” award by American Lawyer Media (ALM). This award acknowledges practices that have had a significant impact in the field of law and have demonstrated excellence in their specialty.
Additionally, Steven Stafstrom, a member of the firm’s Litigation and Real Estate and Environmental practices, was named the winner of the Social Impact Award. The annual awards recognize outstanding firms and attorneys from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
“I couldn’t be more proud of Steven and our family law team,” said Lee D. Hoffman, chair of Pullman & Comley. “They all work diligently to make a difference in the lives of our clients and in our communities. It’s great to see that work recognized with these distinguished awards.”
Pullman’s team of family law attorneys, which includes top trial and appellate lawyers and collaboratively trained attorneys, are skilled negotiators and adept mediators who excel at swiftly and effectively resolving family law disputes. Their significant contributions include the enforcement of prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, the calculation of child support for high-income families, and the modification of alimony awards.
The practice has consistently been recognized by legal industry rankings, including Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, Super Lawyers “Rising Stars,” Connecticut Law Tribune’s “New Leaders in the Law” and “Best Family Law Group,” and the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys “Connecticut’s Ten Best.” These honors are a testament to the outstanding work their Family Law attorneys perform on behalf of their clients. The team received the “Specialty Litigation Department of the Year” Connecticut Legal Award in 2022.
The Social Impact Award by ALM celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to society through their professional and personal efforts. It is a testament to Steve’s excellent work in advocating for safer communities and his role in advancing important public policies, both as an attorney and in his role as a member of the Connecticut General Assembly representing the 129th Assembly District (Bridgeport) and House Chairman of the Judiciary Committee.
Steve has dedicated a significant portion of his career to advancing gun violence prevention strategies. As an active participant in both state and national discussions, he has played a pivotal role in shaping legislation aimed at reducing gun violence. His work has earned him recognition at the White House State Legislative Meeting on Gun Violence Prevention, where he spoke about Connecticut’s leadership in this critical area.
