HARTFORD, CONN., June 25, 2024 – All abilities, ages and fitness levels are invited to the third annual MOVE! With the Urban League of Greater Hartford event on Saturday, July 13, 2024. The Hartford Marathon Foundation (HMF) and the Urban League of Greater Hartford are collaborating again with presenting sponsor Pratt & Whitney to host a 5K (3.1-mile) and a 1-mile race, free kids race, and a Movement Festival of fitness activities in historic Keney Park, near the park’s Woodland Street entrance, off of Greenfield Street in Hartford.

The family-friendly event celebrates the many ways members of the community are active while also showcasing the amenities of Keney Park, the “Jewel of the City” and one of the largest designed park landscapes in the U.S. The event kicks off at 9 a.m. with the 5K and a 1-mile race in which participants can run or walk. At 10:15 a.m. the free HMF FitKids fun run takes place, followed by the awards presentation, including the inaugural Exum Award in honor of former Pratt & Whitney executive and Urban League Board member, Earl Exum. Between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., the public can enjoy a free Movement Festival with live entertainment, fresh produce distribution, food, health and fitness information, yoga and stretching demonstration, movement stations, arts & crafts, and community resources.

Also featured will be teams of young adults competing in the Urban League Young Professionals YP Games. Company Employee Resource Groups are encouraged to fill out the YP Games Form at https://linktr.ee/ulgh64 for more details.

“We’re proud to partner with the Urban League again on this great event that so strongly reflects our mission to promote healthy living through fitness and physical activity for people of all experiences, backgrounds and abilities,” said Josh Miller, President of the Hartford Marathon Foundation. “We welcome the community to join us and appreciate Pratt & Whitney and the partners and volunteers that all help to make this possible.”

“One of the best things about this event is seeing local run and walk enthusiasts meshed with those from all across the region,” beams David Hopkins, President and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Hartford, which is celebrating 60 years of service to the Connecticut community. “From the race to the health and fitness festivities, this year’s event will be bigger and better because of the incredible commitment of Pratt & Whitney and the Hartford Marathon Foundation, and the partnership of Advocacy to Legacy and Keney Park Sustainability Project to highlight health as a pillar of the Urban League Movement.”
