Signature Annual Fundraiser to be Held at The Bushnell on Oct. 23

West Hartford – Tickets are now on sale for the 2024 Luminary Celebration, the joyful annual fundraiser hosted by the Aurora Women and Girls Foundation, which will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts. Click here to register.

West Hartford resident Kyra Dorsey, Ph.D., a member of Aurora’s Board of Directors, is leading the group of volunteers helping to plan the event.

“I am truly honored to chair this year’s Luminary Celebration,” said Dr. Dorsey, a chemical engineer who is the founder and CEO of the Glory Group LLC, a West Hartford consulting firm serving the nonwoven industry.  “Supporting women and girls through Aurora is deeply meaningful to me because I believe in the power of community and opportunity to transform lives. Aurora’s work creates pathways for success, and I am excited to help shine a light on the incredible impact we can all make together.”

Proceeds will support Aurora’s community investments, especially its College Success programs and groundbreaking research about women and girls in CT.

“We are so excited to celebrate all of the luminaries in our community – the people who create opportunities for women and girls to shine, and the inspiring women who are empowered by that support,” said Aurora Executive Director Jennifer Steadman, Ph.D.

Wesleyan University Professor Dr. Khalilah Brown-Dean, the inaugural Executive Director of the Allbritton Center for the Study of Public Life, will be the keynote speaker at this year’s event. Dr. Brown-Dean hosts the award-winning Connecticut Public Radio show and podcast, Disrupted, on which Aurora was a guest in November 2023 for a discussion of its collaborative research report, “Elusive Equity.”

Aurora is grateful to the following Community Partners for their annual  operating support: Ares Management; Barnes Group; the Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity, and Opportunity (CWCSEO); Cowdery, Murphy & Healy; Eastern CT State University; Family First Life; the Goss Family; the Green & Blue Foundation; Liberty Bank; Max Cares Foundation; NBT Bank; Jennifer W.
