Wheeler previously received national health care workforce recognition in summer

Wheeler Health is a 2024 Top Workplaces recipient by Hartford Courant Top Workplaces, based on confidential employee feedback.

It is Wheeler’s eighth time receiving this designation since 2013, and it comes on the heels of being named a national 2024 Healthcare Industry Top Workplace over the summer. Wheeler also received special recognition for its managers in the 2024 results.

This award is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage LLC. The survey uniquely measures the employee experience and its component themes, including employees feeling respected and supported, enabled to grow, empowered to execute, and more.

“Across the state, each day, my colleagues offer hope to individuals and families who depend on us for care,” said Sabrina Trocchi, PhD, MPA, Wheeler’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “It is often challenging work, but we can see from our survey results that our teams know why we walk in the door every morning. It is an amazing honor to lead an organization full of simply inspirational people.”

Approximately 400 Wheeler employees across the state completed the survey in the spring. Among the highlights of Wheeler’s results:

“My Job Makes Me Feel Like I Am Part of Something Meaningful”
Wheeler: 86% of surveyed employees agreed.
The national health care benchmark was 81%.

“My Manager Helps Me Grow”
Wheeler: 85% of surveyed employees agreed.
The national health care benchmark was 74%.

“Wheeler Encourages Different Points of View”
Wheeler: 74% of surveyed employees agreed.
The national health care benchmark was 66%.

Trocchi said that past Top Workplace surveys led to countless employee-driven changes in Wheeler, from new Employee Resource Groups to different approaches to benefits and dress codes, and more.

“We listen to our employees, and I believe we can see that when you listen and trust your team, great things happen,” she added.

“Earning a Top Workplaces award is a badge of honor for companies, especially because it comes authentically from their employees,” said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO. “That’s something to be proud of. In today’s market, leaders must ensure they’re allowing employees to have a voice and be heard. That’s paramount. Top Workplaces do this, and it pays dividends.”
