Leaders in Focus 2024 with Karen Fisk
Leadership Greater Hartford Presents: An insightful evening centered on leadership, social justice, and community engagement
Hartford, CT — Leadership Greater Hartford (LGH) is thrilled to announce the next installment of our Leaders in Focus series, taking place on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM at the Stowe Center for Literary Activism in Hartford, Connecticut. This event promises an insightful evening focused on leadership, social justice, and community engagement.
Our keynote speaker, Karen Fisk, the Executive Director of the Stowe Center and Stowe on the GO, will share her insights on the power of storytelling to drive social justice and literary activism. Since joining the Stowe Center in October 2022, Fisk has been a dedicated leader, committed to sharing stories that illuminate humanity, nurture empathy, and motivate positive change. Under her leadership, the Stowe Center continues to illuminate the legacy of Harriet Beecher Stowe, fostering empathy and positive change through education and community engagement.
Fisk, who holds a master’s degree in literature from the University of Michigan and a BA in both Art History and English from the University of Rochester, is dedicated to creating inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome, seen, and heard. Her mission is to ensure barrier-free experiences for all, aligning with the Stowe Center’s goal of advocating for hope and freedom.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn more about the impactful programs offered by the Stowe Center for Literary Activism, including "Stowe on the Go." This innovative program facilitates difficult conversations using historical objects to nurture common ground for the common good. Through this program and others, the Stowe Center helps communities recognize and appreciate where they are united, fostering deeper understanding and respect for differences.
