Wheeler has earned Behavioral Health reaccreditation from The Joint Commission, the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body for providing quality, coordinated, patient-centered health care.
Wheeler underwent a rigorous, onsite review on April 5-8, 2022. During the visit, a Joint Commission reviewer evaluated compliance with behavioral health standards spanning several areas, including care, treatment, and services; environment of care; leadership; emergency management; and screening procedures for the early detection of imminent harm. The programs surveyed include Wheeler’s Community-Based services; Congregate Care, Extended Day Treatment and Foster Care programs; and Wheeler’s Northwest Village School.
The Joint Commission’s standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts, and patients. They are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help health care organizations measure, assess, and improve performance. The surveyor also conducted onsite observations and interviews.
