Operation Shower, ConnectiCare, Travelers Championship host drive-through baby shower for military moms-to-be
On Tuesday, June 23, Operation Shower in collaboration with ConnectiCare and the Travelers Championship hosted a drive-through baby shower for 39 military moms-to-be. The special event, usually held at the TPC River Highlands during the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, was redesigned this year to adhere to the state and local health department safety guidelines and social distancing protocols. The drive-through shower took place at the United States Navy Submarine Force Library & Museum on the Thames River in Groton where each mom received an array of gifts, including Operation Shower’s signature “Shower in a Box.” A number of additional products and gift items were donated to help families welcome a new baby.During the celebration, the expecting moms drove by ConnectiCare employees and Operation Shower volunteers holding ‘congratulations’ signs before parking and receiving their gifts. All of the moms who participated in the event are the spouses of deployed members of Naval Submarine Base New London, or in some cases, are active duty themselves.
