Hartford HealthCare Receives Generous Donation to Help Survivors of Sexual Assault

Tara Flynn, left, and Ann Conlon, RN, St. Vincent’s Medical Center’s S.A.F.E. (Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner) were on hand to accept the donations on Wednesday at St. Vincent’s. The group collected enough to also provide clothing for survivors at The Hospital of Central Connecticut and MidState Medical Center.

January 17, 2025 | Today, St. Vincent’s Medical Center had a clothing donation drive to help sexual assault survivors.

Nearly two dozen bags filled with clothing were donated this morning.

Tara Flynn, Administrative Assistant for the Department of Medicine at St. Vincent’s Medical Center and a member of the non-profit Jane Doe No More, co-spearheaded an important initiative to support survivors of sexual assault.

A drive was organized to collect brand new sweatsuits and undergarments for survivors who arrive at the hospital for a sexual assault examination.

A survivor’s clothing is collected as evidence, leaving them with little to wear as they begin their recovery journey.

Tara, herself, is a sexual assault survivor and this donation is deeply personal, "We wanted to do something meaningful to provide even the smallest bit of dignity to someone going through a scary situation."

Thanks to an outpouring of support, including a significant contribution from Hanes, the drive has collected hundreds of brand-new sweatsuits providing comfort to survivors.

Ann Conlon, RN, St. Vincent’s Medical Center’s S.A.F.E. (Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner) and the team will be on hand to accept the donations.

Jane Doe No More, Inc. in Naugatuck, CT, is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization with a mission to improve society’s response to victims of sexual crimes.
