Annual event, sponsored by Bank of America, kicks off Connecticut Foodshare’s ‘Turkey and Forty’ campaign

On Tuesday, November 15, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Renee DiNino, Director of Community Affairs and Community Programming, iHeartMedia Hartford and New Haven, will broadcast live from Connecticut Foodshare’s Wallingford facility for this year’s Bank of America Turkey Tuesday, an annual effort to help Connecticut neighbors in need celebrate Thanksgiving. The 23rd annual event kicks off Connecticut Foodshare’s holiday giving season. The ‘Turkey and Forty’ campaign, which encourages members of the community to donate a frozen turkey or make a monetary contribution, raises awareness about food insecurity during the holiday season and beyond, while collecting turkeys to provide Thanksgiving meals and raise funds to fight hunger year-round.

“We are committed to providing a Thanksgiving meal to over 50,000 of our neighbors throughout Connecticut. Inflation is affecting many people this holiday season. We are grateful to Bank of America for their steadfast partnership in making sure no one goes without a meal this Thanksgiving. Bank of America continues to help us meet our increased demand for food assistance not just through the holidays but year-round,” said Jason Jakubowski, President and CEO of Connecticut Foodshare.

“Hunger is a chronic problem that affects nearly 400,000 people in Connecticut, especially those most vulnerable in our community,” said Joe Gianni, President, Bank of America of Greater Hartford. “Our continued partnership with Connecticut Foodshare is one way that we are working to address critical needs statewide. We are pleased that Bank of America Turkey Tuesday has become the single-largest Thanksgiving food collection event of the season.”

Donations received will help Connecticut Foodshare meet their ‘Turkey and Forty’ goal of providing a Thanksgiving meal to over 50,000 families across the state. Bank of America Turkey Tuesday is an opportunity for dignitaries, business leaders, community leaders and friends to share their commitment to Connecticut Foodshare.
