March 30, 2020, Windsor, CT – With the ever evolving COVID-19 health crisis, Easterseals Capital Region & Eastern CT has proactively cancelled major events and scaled back operations following state and federal guidelines to ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients and staff.  At the same time, Easterseals has reached out to corporate partners for much needed financial support.

Dr. Allen Gouse, Easterseals President & CEO, “This unexpected crisis will impact our fiscal year and the extent to which we can carry on our mission to provide exceptional services to ensure that all people with disabilities and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities.”

Pratt & Whitney has demonstrated their deep commitment to Easterseals. “With the COVID-19 crisis, it is important to pause, be grateful and thank special corporate partners for standing with us,” said Easterseals Vice President Marketing & Philanthropy, Wendy Archer.  Easterseals Capital Region & Eastern CT received a Pratt & Whitney agreement for $100,000 to support its Easterseals Veterans Rally Point programs.  Further, with the unexpected cancellation of its largest fundraiser (the Easterseals Crystal Ball), Pratt & Whitney converted their event sponsorship of $25,000 into a straight donation.

Given Pratt & Whitney’s generous investment, Vanessa Williams, Easterseals Board Chair, expressed the gratitude of the entire Easterseals family, “Thank you for standing with us –we are deeply grateful for your partnership. Thank you for making philanthropy a priority and for being such good stewards in our community. We will get through this COVID-19 crisis, and when normalcy returns, we will be thanking Pratt & Whitney for standing with us by planting a beautiful tree to honor the partnership and as a permanent visual reminder — Pratt & Whitney stands with us.”
