New England’s Largest Latina Networking and Empowerment Event to Feature Keynote Speaker Maria Hinojosa and Unveiling of Findings In Recent Study
Latinas & Power Corp., announced today that it will host the 18th annual Latinas & Power Symposium, New England’s premier event for Latinas and supporters, on Friday, October 15, 2021 in a hybrid format.
The live, in-person event will be held at the Marriott Downtown Hartford (200 Columbus Avenue, Hartford, CT) from 9am to 3pm EDT. A livestream will be simulcast from 11am to 3pm EDT on the same date. Registration for the in-person event, which will require masks and proof of vaccination, is $150 with a $25 discount available with Early Bird registration by October 5. This motivating and empowering event will feature a keynote address by the host and producer of PRX/NPR’s popular Latino USA program Maria Hinojosa. This multi-faceted journalist, a Latina pioneer in many a newsroom, is also the author of the acclaimed book Once I Was You: A Memoir of Love and Hate in America. Hinojosa recently appeared as an activist in the motion picture musical In the Heights.
The event will also serve as a launch for the newest Latinas & Power Corp. initiative: Latinas in Leadership Institute (LiLI). After receiving requests for expanded programming to support Latinas seeking access to important to achieve greater success and growth in their career and business journey, Latinas & Power Corp. CEO and Founder Marilyn Alverio began research and focus group process funded by the CT Health Foundation. The results of this effort will inspire a curriculum for a new hybrid certification program that will provide skills, resources and tools needed for women looking to advance in their chosen fields, with a particular focus on navigating the “new world normal” we’re all experiencing as a result of the pandemic.
Alverio and a panel of distinguished women will discuss the results of the LiLI research, as well as the findings uncovered in the Network of Executive Women and Latinarrific‘s recently-released study, Latinas in Corporate America: A Foot in Two Worlds – Elevating the Latina Experience. The powerhouse lineup includes Marilynn Cruz-Aponte, Public Works Assistant Director for the Town of East Hartford; Yvonne Garcia, Chief of Staff to the Chairman & CEO of State Street Bank; Adriana Waterston, Chief Revenue Officer and Insight & Strategy Lead for Horowitz Research; and Arminda “Mindy” Figueroa, Founder and CEO of Latin2Latin Marketing & Communications LLC.
The keynote, panel conversation, and the awarding of Latinas & Power’s Latina Champion Awards will be featured in both the in-person and virtual format. The in-person event will also include breakfast, lunch, and valuable opportunities for networking.
