March 6, 2020, HARTFORD, CT – YWCA Hartford Region announces its 25th Anniversary “In the Company of Women” Luncheon, to be held on April 9, 2020 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford. YWCA Hartford Region is poised to be at the forefront of a history-making year for women. Throughout 2020, events marking the century milestone of women in the United States winning suffrage will be held across the state; YWCA Hartford will be convening the community to support issues vital to women and girls, while working to strengthen Get Out the Vote efforts and celebrating the 25th Anniversary of its signature fundraising event.
The luncheon has grown to become one of the state’s largest networking events, bringing more than 1,500 business, community and nonprofit leaders together to support the organization’s mission: eliminating racism and empowering women. It is a mission needed now more than ever.
The theme for this year is Together We’re Unlimited and will feature keynote speaker Cecile Richards. Richards is national leader and advocate for women’s rights, social and economic justice and the co-founder of Supermajority, an organization fighting for gender equity.
“YWCA Hartford Region is proud to celebrate 25 years of bringing the community together to make a difference in the lives of women, girls and families. We know we can’t do it alone, which is why the theme this year, Together We’re Unlimited is so powerful,” said Adrienne W. Cochrane, Chief Executive Officer of YWCA Hartford Region. “This is a year to be bold and unapologetic in mobilizing women around real change in ensuring gender equity. Regardless of which side of the aisle you are on, every vote matters this year. It is more important than ever to ensure the voices of all women…particularly women of color…are heard.”
