Adrian Chan, MD expands Parkinson’s Disease, Cognitive Health Expertise at Hospital for Special Care
NEW BRITAIN, CT – Adrian Chan, MD has joined Hospital for Special Care (HFSC) as a neurologist in the hospital’s Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Center and Co-Director, Center for Cognitive Health. “Dr. Chan brings unique clinical expertise and valuable leadership skills to our dynamic neuroscience initiatives,” said Bill Pesce, DO, chief medical officer. “Our clinical care, research and service innovations will continue to thrive as we welcome Dr. Chan to our team.”
Dr. Chan specializes in comprehensive Parkinson’s disease care, including DEEP brain stimulation (DBS) programing and botulinum toxin injections as well as other movement disorders and dementia. His expertise includes Huntington’s disease, dystonia, tics and other rare movement disorders. Dr. Chan also specializes in clinical care and research associated with Alzheimer’s Disease, Lewy Body Dementia, and other atypical dementia and neurodegenerative diseases.

The National Committee for Quality Assurance has designated Hospital for Special Care as a Patient-Centered Specialty Practice for Parkinson’s Disease. HFSC earned this designation with support from the Maximillian E. and Marion O. Hoffman Foundation. Dr. Chan joins neuropsychologist Dr. Anthony Rinaldi as a co-director of the HFSC Center for Cognitive Health. The HFSC Center for Cognitive Health receives support from the Kelser Charity Challenge each year. Each of these areas of specialty comprise a component of HFSC’s neuroscience initiatives.
Adrian T.A. Chan, MD completed his medical education in Ireland and is a licentiate of the College of Physicians and Royal College of Surgeons. He completed residencies in neuropathology and neurology at New York University Hospital Medical Center as well as a Movement Disorder Fellowship at the Parkinson’s Disease Research, Education and Clinical Center at the Philadelphia Veteran Affairs Medical Center, Pennsylvania Hospital, University of Pennsylvania. He is board certified in neurology.
