TEANECK, N.J., June 29, 2023 – Cognizant (NASDAQ: CTSH) today announced it is joining the Business Roundtable’s Workforce Partnership Initiative (WPI) – Connecticut, reinforcing the company’s commitment to train the state’s residents on the critical technology skills needed to fill the more than 47,000 technology job openings in the state. Cognizant has a long history of working across multiple industries in Connecticut, with especially deep client relationships and industry expertise in supporting digital transformation for the Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, Healthcare and Manufacturing industries.

“Connecticut’s well-educated, well-trained workforce is second to none and is a primary reason why our state is globally known as a leader for the banking, financial services, and insurance industries,” Governor Ned Lamont said. “Our state recognizes that in order to grow, businesses need the workers who are trained in specific skills required for today’s economy. Continuing to strengthen access to STEM workforce training and development will ensure that more citizens of our state will have stronger career paths to the highly-skilled and valued jobs being created in these sectors. I’m glad that global companies like Cognizant are choosing to invest more in the development of Connecticut and our residents.”

Cognizant and its Associates have already made meaningful contributions to training Connecticut residents in critical STEM skills. In partnership with the Connecticut Science Center the company has presented multiple projects related to Virtual Reality (VR) and the Internet of Things (IOT) for high school students from around the state, as well as hosting a summer Future Labs Project facilitating technology training projects and hosting expert panel discussions. Along with mentoring students through this partnership, the company has made financial contributions to STEM education in the state, including the Connecticut chapter of the National Center for Women in Technology.

“Re-skilling and upskilling are a heavy – but crucial – lift and the best results occur when – local governments, academia and companies partner together to do that heavy lifting,” said Cognizant CEO, Ravi Kumar S. “Joining the Workforce Partnership Initiative is another way that Cognizant is expanding on our commitment to Connecticut and supporting a strong local economy. We appreciate the leadership of Governor Lamont, the Business Roundtable, and other partners and are proud to work with them to increase skills training and opportunities.”

This is one of many investments Cognizant is making in local communities across the U.S. to train, up-skill, and re-skill residents for the technology roles of today and the future. The company is a proud sponsor of the National Governors Association’s Workforce Innovation Network and has dedicated $150 million to support education and STEM skills development across the country.
