January 4, 2021 (New York) – Day Pitney LLP announced that it has elected four new partners, effective January 1, 2021.
The promoted partners practice in two of our three core departments, Litigation and Corporate, and represent clients across practice areas, including Mergers, Acquisitions and Joint Ventures; Investment Management and Private Funds; Intellectual Property; and Energy and Utilities.

Kevin Duffy, a commercial litigator, assists individuals and businesses in matters affecting their personal and financial interests. He has advised and represented clients in cases involving contracts, securities, public bidding, unfair competition, negligence, fraud and consumer protection claims in state and federal courts in New Jersey and New York. He has successfully argued before the Supreme Court of New Jersey, and outside of the courtroom he has successfully represented clients’ interests in arbitration and mediation. Duffy earned his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law, and his B.S., magna cum laude, from Emerson College. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York.
Brian Fischer represents private equity and venture capital firms, public companies, privately held companies and emerging growth companies in formation, debt and equity financings; mergers and acquisitions; strategic joint ventures; technology arrangements; and general corporate matters. He advises clients in structuring, forming, and operating private investment funds, partnerships, and joint ventures. Fischer also has significant experience in transition planning for family-owned and closely held businesses, and assisting owners and management in preparing for and executing sale transactions and other transitions to the next generation of owners and management. Fischer earned his LL.M from Boston University School of Law; his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law, magna cum laude; and his B.B.A., cum laude, from the University of Miami. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut and Delaware.
Alex P. Garens advises corporations across diverse industries on issues at the intersection of intellectual property and technology. He assists clients on trademark, copyright, and advertising issues, and regularly guides clients throughout the lifecycle of brand management: identifying, clearing, and securing protection for intellectual property assets, as well as developing and implementing a global brand strategy for the continued management, expansion, protection, and enforcement of their intellectual property rights. Garens also assists clients with structuring, drafting, and negotiating agreements and transactions that relate to intellectual property, technology, data and privacy, such as licenses, SaaS agreements, services agreements, data privacy agreements and addendums, terms of use agreements, sponsorship and co-promotion agreements, sweepstakes and promotional contest rules, among other commercial agreements and internal company resources for data privacy compliance and best practices. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Boston University School of Law, and his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Garens is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Alexander Judd counsels energy clients on regulatory, compliance, and transactional matters. He assists energy clients with the development and financing of renewable power and fossil fuel facilities. Judd works with competitive electricity suppliers, utilities, energy project developers, and investors. He appears frequently before the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA). Judd also monitors regulatory developments in the energy and utilities field throughout New England. He earned his J.D., with honors, and a Certificate of Energy and Environmental Law from the University of Connecticut Law School, and his B.A., cum laude, from The George Washington University.
