As the Hartford Region’s food bank, Foodshare works hard to continue its mission to help solve hunger issues, even during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
“Foodshare is committed to helping our neighbors throughout this crisis,” emphasizes President and CEO Jason Jakubowski.
The organization is leading an informed, coordinated response to hunger in Hartford and Tolland counties and committed to the safety and wellbeing of the community.
Food assistance continues to be available through the organization’s Mobile Food Pantry; however, some sites have temporarily closed. Volunteer opportunities, including daily on-site food sorting and packing at Foodshare’s Bloomfield and Hartford locations, continue with strict measures to ensure CDC guidelines for sanitizing and social distancing.
“We’re very grateful to our community for their continued support and we’re thankful for all the volunteers who continue to help us at our warehouse and our Mobile Foodshare sites,” says Jakubowski. “The Greater Hartford community always pulls together in times of need.”
