Jewish Federation Annual Meeting and Celebration to Feature TED Crowdsourcing Presenter Lior Zoref, Zachs Spirit of Judaism Awards
Wednesday, September 16, community members and friends of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford will gather – virtually – to celebrate community accomplishments, recognize outstanding service, and elect new leaders at the organization’s Annual Meeting and Celebration, to take place via Zoom. An unprecedented year deserves an unprecedented celebration, and this unforgettable evening of collective creativity will showcase the resiliency and fortitude of the Greater Harford Jewish community over the past year.
The 2020 Annual Meeting & Celebration kicks off at 6:45 p.m. with a pre-program community schmooze; the program follows from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Keynote speaker Lior Zoref, Ph.D., noted TED presenter and author of the bestselling book “Mindsharing,” will lead attendees in a virtual crowdsourcing activity live from Israel. Dr. Zoref has addressed some of the world’s most innovative organizations, including MIT Media Lab, Nike, Microsoft, and the White House.
Awards and Honorees
Other highlights will include the presentation of the Henry M. Zachs Spirit of Judaism Award, which was established six years ago by the Zachs family to highlight the Greater Hartford Jewish community’s volunteer and professional “unsung heroes.” This year’s award recognizes Maya Schwartz for her work as a transformational educator teaching and sharing her love of Israel, the Hebrew language, and Judaism with her students at New England Jewish Academy and Steven Kleinman for his deep commitment to preserving Greater Hartford Jewish life during his many years as a volunteer with a wide variety of local Jewish organizations. New members will also be voted on to the Federation’s Board of Directors during the meeting.
Event pre-registration is required. Please register at bit.ly/JFGH2020AnnualMeeting. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own celebratory beverage for a virtual “l’chaim.”
