MHC’s President and CEO, Luis B. Perez, LCSW, is set to join Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, United Way Connecticut’s President and CEO Lisa Tepper-Bates, and NAMI Connecticut’s Thomas Burr for a press conference on Monday, September 25th. The event will recognize September as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and bring awareness to the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, 988.
At MHC, we understand that one of the most effective ways to support someone in crisis is by being proactive in accessing the necessary resources. Equally important is knowing about these resources for your well-being, ensuring you have options available when needed. We extend our gratitude to Representative Rosa DeLauro for hosting this press conference.
The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is a national network of local crisis centers that provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. The Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress as well as prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones. By dialing 988, those in need will gain access to immediate assistance, ensuring they receive the help and support they deserve.
We encourage everyone to add 988 to their contacts and to use this month as a reminder to check in with yourself or with a friend.
