As Connecticut residents are asked to stay home to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Klingberg Family Centers continues to provide services to help children and families–services that are all the more needed in this time of stress and uncertainty.
Klingberg’s Outpatient Clinic continues to take referrals during this time. If your family is struggling and would benefit from talking with an understanding and compassionate professional counselor, please call 860-243-4416 for an appointment. We serve children ages 4 to 17 and their families. Counseling may be covered by your insurance.
“Though this is a difficult time for everyone, I have been tremendously inspired and encouraged by our staff’s commitment, resourcefulness, and compassion,” says Steven A. Girelli, Ph.D., President/CEO. “Our work on behalf of children and families continues in this crisis, and I am confident in our ability to get through this together.”
Klingberg has 20 different programs, each of which is making adjustments in order to continue offering the excellent care for which the agency is known. For example, the Klingberg Foster Care and Adoption programs continue to be available to client families and providers by phone and email throughout the day,and are also providing after-hours emergency response as needed. Weekly virtual visits are being conducted with children and families via Telehealth, which is a readily available approach that has demonstrated promise in the appropriate delivery of evidence-based treatment.
Founded in 1903, Klingberg Family Centers is a private, nonprofit multi-service agency providing help to thousands of persons across Connecticut each year. Our goal is to extend hope and healing to children and families whose lives have been traumatized by abuse and/or neglect in its various forms, severe family problems and mental health issues. Through an array of group care, special education, foster care and community programs, children and parents are given the encouragement and skills they need to function more effectively at home, in school and in their community. Our main campus is located in New Britain, Connecticut. We also offer a wide range of community services from our office in Hartford.
