Donations needed to keep local kids warm; coats to be distributed at Thursday event.

Hartford, Conn. Temperatures are dropping, and 250 local children need new coats by October 26. The Village for Families & Children is counting on the community to contribute online donations and help keep children in Greater Hartford warm through the winter.

With high costs impacting families, The Village set out to ensure children have the winter gear they desperately need and prevent families from having to choose between providing a new coat over other basic needs, such as food. In fact, due to an overwhelming need, The Village’s initial goal has grown from 500 coats to 750 coats to be sure no child goes without.

The new coats will be distributed to families during a Trunk or Treat event for Village clients this Thursday, October 26, aiming to get children their coats and accessories before temperatures continue to drop this autumn and in the winter months ahead.

Donations in any amount make a difference. As little as $5, will help a child stay warm and give a family in need one less thing to worry about. To help, visit thevillage.org/coats.
