In its 196th year as one of the oldest mutual banks in the country, Liberty Bank continues to exhibit what it means to be a true community partner with its support for local businesses amid the pandemic. On top of the Bank’s various relief measures and services, Academies for Small Business, and helping nearly 4,000 business customers and non-customers with Paycheck Protection Program funding, Liberty coined a new initiative – 1,000 Thanks Campaign – to recognize small business partners and the valuable teammates who help them succeed.

Earlier this year, Liberty launched a program for business owners to nominate their teammates who went above and beyond to strengthen and sustain local businesses in the face of COVID-19.

“Small businesses are at the heart of our community and strong teammates are their most powerful resource, just like at Liberty Bank,” stated David W. Glidden, President and CEO. “We couldn’t think of a better way to start the year than with celebrating our small business partners and their many outstanding teammates who persevered with poise and compassion during a time unlike any other.”

More than 500 nominations were submitted by the Bank’s business customers throughout the state. During a thorough review, Liberty looked to honor teammates of small businesses in Connecticut who each made a lasting, measurable impact on the business at hand and its customers. In March, three extraordinary individuals were chosen and each received a $1,000 check as a “Thank you.” Winners were celebrated for their unique and impactful stories, for helping their employers thrive in challenging times, and for providing one-of-a-kind customer experiences.

In light of Small Business Week this May, Liberty Bank is excited to celebrate a three star employees from its local business partners:

  1. Lily Orr, Spread Cheese Co., Middletown, CT: Spreading her love of cheese to help a local business bloom

“There is literally no one more deserving of Liberty Bank’s 1000 Thanks Award,” stated Spread Cheese Co. Business Owner, Lindsey Eberle. “We nominated Lily, our Shop Manager, because she consistently steps up to the plate and delivers passion and enthusiasm every time she comes to work. We couldn’t be more proud and happy for her big win!”

  1. Kelley Roy, Assured Quality Homecare, LLC’s, Norwich CT: Keeping people safe, heathy and home

“I was so surprised to be chosen as a recipient for Liberty Bank’s 1000 Thanks Award,” stated Kelley Roy. “This is an accolade I will always cherish. It’s extra special knowing that someone in my organization took their time to share my contributions and efforts. I often go through the day-to-day and don’t always realize all that I’ve accomplished until someone else points it out. I am truly appreciative and honored!”
