WASHINGTON, DC (September 29, 2023) – Less than a year after opening its newest office in Washington, DC, Robinson+Cole is pleased to announce the addition of former Skadden litigator David E. Carney as a partner in the firm’s Business Litigation Group, furthering the firm’s growth strategy. Carney has significant and varied experience in government enforcement, internal investigations, complex civil litigation, and corporate compliance programs. Prior to joining Robinson+Cole, Carney practiced law for more than two decades at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.

“Adding David to our growing Washington, DC office expands our capabilities within that market and is consistent with our strategic plan to deepen the strength of our already talented and sophisticated litigation team to further support our client service needs,” said Rhonda J. Tobin, Robinson+Cole’s Managing Partner.

Carney’s arrival follows the recent Washington, DC addition of former U.S. Department of Justice trial attorney, Sean C. Griffin as a litigation partner. Carney and Griffin’s additions follow the opening of the DC office last fall with a team of intellectual property professionals led by partner William Bradley.

“I am excited and honored to join Robinson+Cole, a firm with both a deep history and a growth mindset,” said Carney. “The culture, colleagues and clients presented a compelling case for me. I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues across the firm to deliver excellent client service and help to expand our Washington presence.”

Carney has successfully represented both individuals and companies involved in enforcement matters before numerous agencies, including the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the General Services Administration (GSA), and the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). Carney has conducted internal investigations across an array of industries for clients confronting a variety of issues. Carney, who has served on an independent monitor team, is also well-versed in the definition, implementation, and assessment of ethics and compliance programs.

In addition to the growth in DC, Robinson+Cole recently added Adam J. Petitt as a partner in its Managed Care Litigation practice in Philadelphia. Earlier this year in New York, the firm welcomed Ze’-ev D. Eiger as a partner in the firm’s Capital Markets + Securities Team, Managed Care Litigation partner E. Evans Wohlforth, Jr., and Jessica L. Rothman as a partner in the firm’s Construction Group. All of these additions furthered the firm’s strategic goal of growing in its larger commercial markets.
