Shipman & Goodwin’s annual women’s golf outing took place on Tuesday, May 14th at Tumble Brook Country Club, sponsored by The Shipman Women’s Alliance. The Shipman Women’s Alliance is an internal group at Shipman, that is committed to cultivating an environment that advocates professional development and promotes the advancement of women. It provides a platform for our women attorneys, business professionals, clients and friends of the firm to share their insights, ideas, experiences and inspirations. Our annual golf event is one example of how we bring talented professional women together to enhance their networks and foster valuable relationships. Internally, Shipman Women’s Alliance provides a forum for discussing issues facing women attorneys and business professionals and serves as an avenue for developing mentoring relationships. The event was attended by over 50 people, and all enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with one another on the golf course.
Shipman is proactive in its efforts to hire, promote and retain female attorneys and business professionals and our success is reflected on a daily basis in our leadership, philosophy and practices. A woman is currently serving as Managing Partner of the firm, three of the seven partners on our Management Committee are women, and our General Counsel and Associate General Counsel are women. We are proud to have the highest percentage of female partners among large firms in Connecticut, have been one of the first large Connecticut law firms to have a woman partner, and to be leaders in addressing and advancing women’s causes in the legal profession.
