HARTFORD, CONN., May 7, 2023 – On Tuesday, May 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Urban League of Greater Hartford will connect hundreds of Hartford area job seekers with dozens of local employers at its 24th Employment Empowerment Expo. The career fair event, held at the YG Club of Dunkin’ Park at 1214 Main St. in Downtown Hartford, Conn, will empower attendees to pursue their desired job or industry and present employers with a qualified and enthusiastic selection of diverse candidates. “Our annual Expo is a unique opportunity for people looking to fulfill their career aspirations, whether they are at the entry level or are an experienced professional, or even an entrepreneur starting or building their business,” explains David Hopkins, President and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Hartford, which is celebrating 60 years of service to the Connecticut community. “Companies representing financial services, healthcare, retail, hospitality, government, and more will be on site, conducting interviews and sharing information.”

“This Expo will embody the power of teamwork and community partnerships,” adds Nicole Porter, the newly hired Urban League of Greater Hartford Workforce Program Manager. “We eagerly anticipate our employment partners and workforce clients to discover their perfect match and forge meaningful employment connections.”

Additional features offered include interview preparation, headshots, entrepreneurial support, and workshops on employability skills training, professional development, resume writing and critique, mock interviews, and business appropriate attire.

Some of the employers scheduled to be on site include First Student, Gifted Hands Homecare, Hartford Police Department, Project Genesis, Public Allies, Waterford Hotel Group, and Trumpf, Inc. The Hartford Yard Goats organization is the event’s presenting sponsor.

Many of the businesses and organizations to be represented at the May 21 Employment Expo work with the Urban League of Greater Hartford throughout the year, including Hartford Steam Boiler, Wheeler Health, the Connecticut Department of Administrative Services, PeoplesBank, and more. First Student will be recognized as the Urban League of Greater Hartford’s 2024 Employer Partner of the Year for its commitment to diversity as a direct feeder into career exploration, readiness and placement.
