Over 30.5% of low-income families in the Hartford area lack the ability to pay for safe and quality childcare. This program offers solution to North Hartford families.

(Hartford, CT – September 13, 2023) – The Wilson-Gray Family YMCA has partnered with the City of Hartford to provide a subsidized childcare program beginning September 18 that will drastically change the landscape for North Hartford families who have been demanding affordable childcare for over 14 years.

The area has been a childcare desert for North Hartford families looking for quality, affordable childcare for infant, toddler, and pre-school aged children. This partnership brings a state-licensed childcare center to the area that focus on learning through play, exploration, and hands-on activities.

There are currently 20 slots immediately available for pre-school children ages 3 – 4 1/2 and 24 slots open for infants and toddlers ages 6 months to 2 1/2 years. Financial assistance is available to qualifying low-income families. Visit ghymca.org for information on how to sign up and apply for financial aid.

The Wilson-Gray Family YMCA is re-opening on September 18 with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony scheduled to celebrate the new Childcare Center and additional community resources and programs.
