Join the Downtown Hartford YMCA, Hartford Yard Goats, and Rotary Club of Hartford on Monday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for our food drive to benefit Hands on Hartford. Volunteers from all three organizations will be on hand, including a very special mascot from the Yard Goats!
Items can be dropped off on the Market Street side of the Downtown YMCA, which is located at 90 State House Square, Hartford, CT 06103. The curbside drop off procedure is to follow the orange cones on the Market Street side of the building (across the street from the bus stop) and wait for a volunteer from one of the organizations to approach your car. You can have the items in your trunk, or pass them through your passenger-side window to the volunteer. We ask that donors not get out of their cars to ensure the safety of all.
According to Hands on Hartford, the most-needed items include: pasta, pasta sauce, peanut butter, jelly, oatmeal, cereal, canned tuna (in water), canned soup (low sodium, especially soups with chicken or beef), canned fruit (no added sugar), canned vegetables (low sodium), rice (two-pound bag), shampoo, conditioner, soap/shower gel, lotion, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shaving cream.
We hope even those who are not working in Downtown at this time will consider this a great opportunity to take the kids for a drive to see where mom or dad work, while also teaching them about philanthropy and helping those in need. We are filling a critical role in provided essential items to those most at risk. We look forward to seeing you all Monday.
