Youth Development Organization First Tee – Connecticut Selected as new Golf Operations Manager of Goodwin Park Golf Course
Golf Course Will Open For Walking Only On Friday, March 18
Cromwell, CT (March 14, 2022) – Effective immediately, First Tee – Connecticut will be responsible for the Golf Operations of Goodwin Park Golf Course. This is a full circle moment for First Tee – Connecticut, as this is the same facility where First Tee was founded in 1999. Starting out as The First Tee of Hartford with summer programs for young people, First Tee – Connecticut has evolved into one of the state’s premiere youth development organizations. “The opportunity to form a more intimate relationship with the City of Hartford, and to have an even greater impact on members of the Hartford community through the game of golf, is something that everyone at our chapter is excited about,” said First Tee – Connecticut’s Executive Director, Mark Moriarty. “This new relationship will allow for increased interaction with some of our existing partners within the city such as Hartford Public Schools, Camp Courant, the Boys & Girls Club of Hartford and the Legacy Foundation. We look forward to more people playing more golf at Goodwin Park in 2022!”
This opportunity at Goodwin Park comes in part a result of the recent efforts of the City of Hartford’s Golf Course Working Group and First Tee — Connecticut’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Taskforce. Both organizations will continue working together to address issues of access to and awareness of the game of golf within the Hartford community.
“The City of Hartford is excited about our new partnership with First Tee – Connecticut in serving the Hartford golf community at Goodwin Park Golf Course for the 2022 golf season. Mark’s team of golf professionals will provide the full complement of services and functions that will enable Goodwin Park Golf Course to continue its strong growth trend, while increasing community engagement, inclusivity, and growing the game locally,” says Michael Looney the City of Hartford’s Director of Public Works.
Interested parties may learn more about golf in Hartford at Hartford Golf Day to be hosted on Saturday, April 23 from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Goodwin Park Golf Course and Keney Park Golf Course.
